Definitions of the central ideas for Quick Write #3:
oppression--The creation of a system of advantage, wherein power (social, political, economic, etc.) is concentrated in one group or groups, and is withheld from others.
systemic-of or relating to a system, especially as opposed to a particular part.
*So, systemic oppression is really being "held down" by "the system" that gives some groups advantages over others
racial identity--a sense of a group or collective identity based on one's perception that he or she shares a common heritage with a particular racial group
integration--the act of combining into a whole
