Thursday's class notes: we shortened the assignment to the following questions on side 2 only (side 1 was 1-10/not period 1)

11. He says the “blessings of civilization” are mixed. Those in more advanced societies may have more technology, health care, etc. but less family/friend connections. One society is not better or happier than the other.

12. He says many people assume that more advanced societies (those with more wealth and power) have people who are biologically superior (smarter) and this is not true.
