"Ideas Live On" by Benazir Bhutto--Monday 1/28 and Tuesday 1/29

According to the author, Benazir Bhutto (former prime minister of Pakistan), what makes a government effective?

In par. 1-3 Bhutto tells us the success of a nation depends on the success of the individual. In par. 2 she states, “’The empires of the future will be the empires of the mind’” meaning, the intelligence of each person is most important.

Review of the end----TEST IS THURSDAY---TOMORROW--WE WILL REVIEW

Scene 4 summary:
During the battle, Young Cato is killed and Lucilius taken prisoner--he insists that Brutus will never be taken alive.

Scene 5 summary:
Facing defeat Brutus's forces rest--he feels all is lost. He asks 3 men to kill him but each refuses. Finally, Strato agrees to hold the sword as Brutus runs on it. Antony calls Brutus "the noblest Roman" and Octavius promises a noble funeral for him. The end!!!!!!!

Finish Act 4: A good amount of reading today....

FIRST: If your class has not watched the animation, we will do that.

SECOND: Read Act 4, Scene 3 (start on page 765)

THIRD: Work on the comprehension check questions on page 40 for Act 4

FOR HOMEWORK.-- complete the work on pages 41- 42 on simile, metaphor, personification, and imagery
