Essay Writing Contest--information for those who are interested!

For Wednesday and Thursday: Finishing your outline and typing the essay--please work steadily!!!!

First, start by downloading the template for your essay:
MLA Essay Template:template

Second, work on finishing your essay outline first and have me check it for accuracy

Third, begin typing the essay (hopefully, you will have time to finish a rough draft and have time to edit it tomorrow before you turn in the final draft to be graded)

Remember: 
*Make sure you cite correctly (Act.Scene.lines)
*You use the sheet in your strategies sections to vary your essay language (signal words)

FIRST--TEST, SECOND-ESSAY

First: We will begin by taking the test for Julius Caesar ---you may NOT use the book ONLY your character map AND YOUR 3X5 CARD---NO ONLINE RESOURCES/PHONES ALLOWED DURING THE TEST.
Second: When you finish please work on your essay beginning with the planning sheet first (2nd attached page)
Third: Begin writing your essay (either by hand or typing although I prefer it to be typed if possible)
Fourth: You may work on extra credit/missed work/showing me your packets, etc.


PLEASE NO TALKING UNTIL EVERYONE IS FINISHED WITH THE TEST. IF I SEE ANYONE SHARING ANSWERS/TALKING DURING THE TEST YOUR COMPUTER WILL BE TURNED OFF AND YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO--MOVE IF YOU FEEL IT TO BE NECESSARY!!!!

HERE IS A POSSIBLE OUTLINE FOR YOUR ESSAY:

Some help for writing your essay today: You should finish your outline today!!!! Tomorrow is the test!!!

Things to know for the test:

1. Main characters (you can use the character map)—who they are/what they did/types of people they are

2. Major Conflicts in the play

3. Soliloquy, aside, dramatic monologue, dialogue

4. study: Comprehension check questions and scene summaries from the packet
5. the literary devices we worked on in the packet: imagery, personification, simile/metaphor, etc.
