Please copy this definition:
Satire-a literary technique in which ideas, customs, behaviors or institutions are ridiculed for the purpose of improving society. Satire may be gently witty, mildly abrasive, or bitterly critical and it often uses exaggeration to force readers to see something in a more critical light.
*One of the components of satire is VERBAL IRONY (WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT THIS FROM MACBETH?)
