1)"Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

2)The poet sounded scary so he gave off a creepy feeling towards the poem.

    3)A B rhyme scheme.

4)The effects were the emotions he was letting off, as he kept repeating the lines, he was giving off that scary feeling.

5)He turned to the villanelle form because he wants his father to fight death. He cant use the traditional elegy because he is not dead yet.

6)"Rage, rage against the dying of the light" This shows loss because when you die you close your eyes and you dont see light anymore.

7)Dylan Thomas view of death is that you should fight it. A.E. Housman's view of death is that its a tragedy. Agreeing with A.E. Housman's view on death is more logical because you can not ever get away from death so when it happens, it is a tragedy.

    6. "Good men, the last wave by crying how bright their frail deeds might have danced ina green bay. here he explains how good men die young and dont get to live their lives fluently

    7. Dylan Thomas is more spectical about death that death should be fought and life is valuable itself. A.E. Housman is the oppsite that Life is just Life and its what you do with your life that really defines your legacy

  3. 1.“Rage, rage against the dying of the light”, the word “men” and “Do not go gentle into that good night” was repeated through the poem.
2.The poem conveys the emotion of sorrow, or sadness.
3.The poem has an “ABA” format. The last word on the top and bottom line rhymes. Except for the last stanza.
4.The causes the suspense to slowly fade away.
5.So the words could flow just right for the reader and it’s more understandable.
6.Yes I can identify stages of loss through the villanelle. The use of repetition kind of cuts down the tension further down the poem.
7.I agree with Housman for the simple fact that when it’s your time to leave this world there’s nothing you can really do about. It’s fate. If someone is suffering and is close dying don’t make them take the pain because they have a lot to live for, just make sure that when they’re gone they’ll always be recognized.

2.Sad emotion when he told the poem as if it happen to him in his life
3.The author uses tone, and villanelle which implied that, their poems spoke of simple, often pastoral or rustic themes.
4.Every time he used repetition he would say the same words very emotionally
5.He really wanted to get the message out to the readers instead elegy, which is a riddle basically,Thomas was saying death can come at anytime of the day that you would not expect it, some of these events probably occurred in his life.
6.Yes When every time he states rage he is mad at one time probably somebody died in his life.
7.Thomas came out in his poem what he really felt like when death comes to one of his loves one that it was no catch to the poem.A.E. Housman kind of came out but not all the way of what he really meant in the poem just like when athletes die young you have more glory then people who die of old age. They both talked about death how it can come at anytime.

  5. 1."Rage, rage against the dying of the night"
"Do not go gentle into that good night"
    2. Rage, anger and frustration he's trying to stress his point onto the reader the author expressed death as "night"
    3. Every other line rhymed and had a pattern
    4. The repetition was meant for him to be heard and meant what him to say why he didn't want the character to die
    5. There different ways to express what is to be said and rhyming in a way that someone may understand using a different format than (ab ab)
    6. (Line 7), the repetition of “Rage, rage against the dying of the night"
"Do not go gentle into that good night"
    7. In the other poem the athlete was being honored in a good way the mood and tone was happy & this poem it’s sad & death is something that is not wanted

    1. “Do not go gentle into the good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the night.”
    2. The poet sounds sad and upset like he is losing someone close to him as if someone is dying before him. The poet sounds as if he is warning someone.
    3. This poem is has a lot of repetition and the last word in every first and last line of each stanza rhyme. In ever second line of each stanza, the last word rhymes.
    4. When the poet uses repetition, it makes the poem sound as if someone is trying to get a message across. When the poem states, “Do not go gentle into the good night” it sound like they are trying to say don’t go, don’t leave so soon.
    5. A villanelle form is a nineteen-line poem with two repeating rhymes and two refrains. I think Thomas wanted to use this form because it’s very different from the traditional elegy. It seems like the more repetition he used the more eager he seemed.
    6. “Old age should burn and rave at close of day” whoever is dying was old. “Though wise men at their end know dark is right” the older you are the wiser you become and you know that dying is what meant to happen. Everybody has to die sometime. “Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, and learn, too late, they grieved it on its way” people don’t think about death and dying until someone they know has passed away. They spend their lives wasting time until someone close to them is gone and then they begin to grieve.

    7. Dylan Thomas wrote about death in a way that came off as, you shouldn’t have to die but the older you become, the more you understand that death is just another part of life. It happens. Thomas sounds sad and upset whereas A.E Housman sounds like they understand that everybody has to die sometime and if you have done something amazing, people are always going to remember you and your achievements. I agree with Thomas because everybody has to die sometime. We are not promised forever and although it’s sad when we lose someone, it happens. We have to get over it and move on knowing they are in a better place and we will see each other again someday. I disagree with A.E Housman because they make it seem like if you aren’t famous or known for someone, when you’re gone you will be forgotten. That’s not true. The only people that matter are closest to you and I highly doubt they will ever forget you.

    5. The reason I think that Thomas turned to villanelle instead of Traditional elegy because he feels that he can have a better connection with his readers by him having meaningful repetition in his in his poem.
    6. Yes, because they were repeated.
    7. I would have to agree with A.E. Houseman’s poem because his view of death was more meaningful to me because he was honoring someone who has died young from a tragic accident but that’s not the exact reason they are honoring him; they are honoring him because he was strong growing athlete and he didn’t deserve to this young of age.
