Quick Write #1: Please copy the following notes (Reading/Writing Strategies section)

Copy every thing between the two lines:

S-summarize (sum up your points)

1.Take Quick Write Notes/go over the rubric
2. Brainstorm for the quick write
3. Finish your Questions for worksheet #1 if needed/Look at the Quick Write Question
4.  Begin filling out your outline sheet if you want one

Here are some ideas if you need help:
  • Uses flashback to show you the traumatic events of his early life
  • Uses imagery to show us about the people and events from his early life.
  • Uses conflict to show us the racial tensions when he grew up.
  • Gives us very clear examples of the bad things that happened to him at an early age.
  • Tells us about the important events that he remembers by repeating the phrase “I remember”



Example:

Thesis- (restate/answer question/add TAG
In The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley…. Uses conflict to show us the racial tensions when he grew up.

Reason—(why is this true?)
This is true because…these conflicts show the reader how bad his life was from an early age.
