disseminate (v.) – to scatter or spread widely, as though sowing seed
prevailed (v.) – to have been or proven superior in strength, power, or influence
Uncle Tom (n.) – a black person who is eager to win the approval of white people and willing to cooperate with them
dissension (n.) – strong disagreement; a contention or quarrel; discord

Marcus Garvey--(17 August 1887 – 10 June 1940), was a Jamaican political leader, publisher, journalist,entrepreneur, and orator who was a staunch proponent of the Black Nationalism and Pan-Africanism movements, to which end he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. He founded the Black Star Line, which promoted the return of the African diaspora to their ancestral lands.

showing us that they are unwanted in Omaha. The author states that they were “brandishing their
shotguns and rifles” threatening them (1). He is disliked because they
are racist and preaches Marcus Garvey.
2. How does the
author introduce the character of Malcolm X’s father?
His father is introduced as being a
“big, six-foot four, very black man” with “one eye” who is a Baptist minister
and preaches for Marcus Garvey (2).
