For Tuesday 9/10: College Essay Samples Cont...

• Today we will start class by viewing a video on the importance of the college essay.
• Second, we will review our questions/answers for the sample college essay "Loss of a Father" (#2 as a class) and share some answers on the board.
• We will do 1 more together (#3) and you will complete #4 on your own and have it checked.
• When you are finished, we look at a second sample "Swimming". 
• You will complete an exit visa on "Swimming"

On a piece of paper slip (exit ticket) I want you to write down the following information for credit. Use the format in red below for your answer;
1. Give me two characteristics about the author that he/she "shows" in the college essay (use adjectives!)
2. For each characteristic, give at least one piece of textual evidence that supports your characteristic
3. Explain how your evidence proves each characteristic
