Today's Agenda: Friday we will be in 162!!!/Tomorrow the 1/2 day will be used for make-up work!

First, here is a list of all the assignments so far this quarter:
1. Questions for "Swimming" and "Loss of a Father" (sample college essays)
2. Questions "The N-word"
3. Questions "The Foreword"
4. Accuplacer Test (4/5 hasn't taken it yet, I know)
5. Worksheet #1, Quick Write #1
6. Worksheet #2, Quick Write #2
7. Worksheet #3, Quick Write #3
8. "Worksheet 4" (yellow worksheet or blog, Quick Write #4 using chart on STEAL) yesterday!
9. Quizzes 1 and 2
10. Reading Diagnostic (today)
11. College Essay*******100 pts!
12. Class participation (running-total)

Second, log-in to the quiz page and take your Reading Diagnostic Test (you can write the answers down on a scrap and then input them at the end if you like) but DO NOT WRITE ON THE TEST ITSELF.

Third, when you are done, I'm going to give you a copy of an excerpt of Ch. 8 "Trapped": Please read it and annotate it for class on Thursday--THIS IS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT WHICH YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR--IT ISN'T AN OPTION

A successful annotation will have the following: (look at the ch. 3 one I did for help)

1. Circle unknown vocabulary--look it up!
2. use the annotating bookmark, but focus on the basics:
! for something important
? for question/confusion
* something very interesting to you 
3. bracket off paragraphs and write notes about the reading/observations you are making
