Today's objectives: We are going to attempt a chapter analysis of both "The Cigarette" and "The Passport". I will do the first one with you, and you will do the second on your own or with the help of a partner. This will count in the essay section of your grade. To do this we will do the following things:
1) Identify important rhetorical devices used by the author
2) Analyze the intended effect on the audience
3) Identify and analyze author's purpose
4) Put this information into several paragraphs
5) Use textual evidence to support your answers
