Hw: Pages 70-71 in Act II/Act III packet on direct vs. indirect characterization---MAKE SURE YOU READ THROUGH THE OVERVIEW AND DIRECTIONS FIRST.
ACT IV SUMMARY: (there is no Act IV packet)
*Macbeth visits the 3 witches again because he wants to know more about his future. 4 apparitions appear with predictions for him. Macbeth finds out Macduff went to England and sends murderers to kill his wife and family.
*Ross tells Lady Macduff that Macduff left for England; she calls him a traitor; a messenger warns her to leave but she refuses; the murderers enter and kill the family.
*Malcolm and Macduff discuss the problems in Scotland. Malcolm is suspicious, so he tests Macduff's loyalty. Macduff passes the test and they agree to join forces against Macbeth. Macduff learns his entire family is dead and vows revenge on Macbeth.
Problems: Macbeth seems to be getting deeper into his insanity and continues killing more innocent people.
