At the beginning of Act I, Lady Macbeth is displayed as a doubtful character regarding her husband Macbeth’s ability to commit murder and become king. She states, “Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o' th' milk of human kindness” (Line 16). This shows she thinks he is too nice or too “soft” to do what she wants him to do. Lady Macbeth is also determined that Macbeth shall fulfill the prophecy and become king. She says, “that I may pour my spirits in thine ear and chastise with the valor of my tongue” (Line 30), meaning she is going to try to persuade her husband into committing the murder and become king and basically make him do something he wouldn’t want to do otherwise.
