The speaker is a heartbroken man who is recently divorced. he has came to the conclusion to be a gold digger because he just got his man hood crushed by somebody he was in love with. the effect he gave the audience is he is looking for revenge and now he is going to look for money instead of love. his tone is determined. i can see him walking down the isle all in love now he's sitting talking to his self about marrying somebody with money. if the gender was different the lyrics would be different it would be about getting your own money & not depending on a man. a woman's role is now to be a financial monkey for a man.
