A. Read Lady Macbeth’s soliloquy in Act I Scene 5, lines 15-54 and Macbeth’s in Scene 7, lines 1-28. What do you learn about the characters in these speeches? Be as specific as possible and use textual evidence as support.
B.Answer Questions 1 and 2:
1.How is Macbeth’s reaction to the witches’ prophecies different from Banquo’s reaction? What do their reactions tell you about their characters? Use details from Act I to contrast their reactions and support your ideas about their characters.
2.How does Lady Macbeth persuade Macbeth to accept her plan to murder Duncan? Which of the two characters do you think is more guilty, and why?
