Day 2: Pre-work for A Raisin in the Sun

Step 1: Annotate the poem on side one--an excerpt from "Harlem" by Langston Hughes

"Harlem"

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up

Like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore--

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over--

like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags

like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

Step 2: Works as a class to answer questions #1-3. Answer #4 independently.

Step 3: Read "Mother to son by Langston Hughes--work with a partner to answer questions 5-7---try to be as specific and in-depth as possible--------BE PREPARED TO SHARE.

TURN IN BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!!!!
