Today's Work:

First we will start with filling in the chart for indirect characterization: STEAL
*Remember, with indirect characterization, we look for evidence, and then decide what we think about the character based on this information. Click here if you cannot see the notes: STEAL chart

THIS IS JUST PRACTICE FOR NOW. WE ARE NOT CHARACTERIZING ANYONE SPECIFIC. JUST LOOKING FOR ANY EVIDENCE WE CAN FIND OF THE AUTHOR'S CRAFT.

Second, we will watch a small section of the movie

Third, we will finish reading the next section of Ch. 6: Pages 104-110 (yes we are skipping around)

Fourth, log in to the quiz page and take Quiz #3 Malcolm X based on the reading we have done for Ch. 6 "Detroit Red" (yesterday and today)---this will NOT count as a quiz page only an in-class assignment

FYI: The name of the chapter is explained on page 99: he states he needed to differentiate himself from two other "Reds" in town--"St. Louis Red" and "Chicago Red", and since no one had ever heard of Lansing, Michigan where he was really from, he chose "Detroit" instead.
