Please repeat yesterday's characterization process only this time for the hero Beowulf (min. 2 adjectives/textual examples). His description begins on page: 36-39.
Here is the "skeleton" we used yesterday if you need it:
In the beginning of the epic poem Beowulf, the title character, Beowulf, is
described as….____________. This is shown in lines ____ when it states
_________. Beowulf also shows himself to be _____________ as seen in lines
_______ meaning, ____________.
Today we will read beginning on page 40: "The Battle with Grendel."
As you read think about the characteristics of an epic hero and how Beowulf proves himself to be one according to that definition:
*Jot down a few notes and line numbers as you read that you could share with the class when we are done reading: How does Beowulf prove himself to be an epic hero?
*Also, note how Grendel has changed. How and why is this??
